Cary Plantation, a small community in northeastern Maine, is currently in the midst of the multi-year process of dissolving it's status as a municipality to join the unorganized territory in Maine — a move that will make them a part of over 9 million acres of unorganized territory in Maine, lower residents' property tax rates and relinquish decision making from the local level to the state.
